Snover Mattress nears 50 years in the community

Snover Mattress and Furniture Co. is a family-owned-and-operated business that has been serving Sanilac County and the surrounding area since 1975. Snover Mattress was established by Robert “Bob” Brown Sr. and his brother-in-law, Dale Wolfe. They started out in a garage manufacturing double-sided mattresses and doing upholstery work with the help of their wives, Diane Brown and Connie Wolfe.

In the late 1970s, Bob and Dale constructed the storefront that the business still operates from today, and became Snover Mattress and Furniture Co. About 10 years later, Dale decided to leave the business. Bob and Diane continued to move forward, working harder than ever to keep the business thriving. They began advertising the store on the radio and, courtesy of Sanilac Broadcasting’s Bob Armstrong, coined the slogan, “Home of the Snover Snoozer“, referring to their high-quality double-sided mattresses.

In the early 1990s, the business began to move away from manufacturing and eventually became exclusively a furniture retailer. Bob’s son, Robert “Chip” Brown Jr., joined the team, and later became the owner when his father retired.

Chip is still running the business with the assistance of his wife, Vicki. They continue to take pride in the quality of the furniture that they sell, still including double-sided mattresses, as well as a wide range of other American-made furniture. Snover Mattress and Furniture puts their customers first, and will take the time to provide an excellent service experience. They are known for sharing their expertise and doing their best to help each customer find exactly what they are looking for, as well as providing free delivery and setup. The family is committed to upholding the values and quality that Snover Mattress has always been known for, as the next generation further evolves the business.
